About Me
“You don’t make a photograph just with a camera. You bring to the act of photography all the pictures you have seen, the books you have read, the music you have heard, the people you have loved.”
Reaching around for a way of starting this, "About Me" section I stumbled upon these beautiful words from Ansel Adams. Photography should be a reflection of the world around us and of our experiences. A photograph captures a moment in time, a unique image that can never be taken again, and it is also a demonstration of what we hold important, a reflection of us as individuals. Looking back at old photographs can bring back memories of sounds and smells, of shared experiences, of places visited and of the special moments in our lives.

As a photographer I am constantly inspired both by the landscape around me and by the people I meet. Living and working in such a beautiful country as Scotland you can not help but to be captivated by the scenery that surrounds us. It has helped to shape us into the people we are and it can always surprise. I am also a keen traditional musician. This has helped foster my passion for live music photography. It has made me better at capturing the individual moments of a performance, the emotion in the performer and the interactions within a band and with the audience.
Emotion is a key element to any photography. A good photograph should capture the emotion in a scene and reflect that back to the viewer. A photograph should tell a story, whether that be the joy in a laughing child, the nervous excitement of a wedding day or the family snaps when on holiday.
Having spent 7 years in the beautiful scenery of Perthshire, I returned to the city of Glasgow a couple of years ago. To date my clients have included the BBC, British Council, Perthshire Advertiser, Glasgow Life and Glasgow St Patrick's Festival, amongst others. I have also been published in the Sunday Herald, Scotsman Newspaper, Box & Fiddle Magazine and the Northern Scot newspaper and my photos have featured on a variety of cd sleeves.
